Privacy Policy
Effective August 6, 2026
The short version. Your Cue account is just an email and a phone number, used to sign you in and nothing else. The people you add, their dates, your notes and their photos are stored on your iPhone and are never uploaded to us. We run no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. Beyond your account details, the only thing that ever leaves your device is the small amount of context needed to write one draft, and only when AI drafting is turned on.
This policy explains what Cue (the "app") does with your information. Cue is published by Boyar ("we", "us"), the makers of Boyar Gifts. It applies to the Cue iPhone app and to this website at sendoncue.com.
1. What stays on your device
Everything that makes Cue useful is written to local storage in the app's own private container on your iPhone. That includes:
- the people in your circle: name, phone number, relationship, and any photo you attach
- the occasions you track: birthdays, anniversaries, one off moments, check in rhythms, holidays and custom dates
- the notes and gift ideas you write about someone
- a birth year, if you enter one, so milestone birthdays can be flagged
- your voice settings, including any sample texts you paste in
- a short fingerprint of lines Cue has already used for a person, so nobody gets the same message twice
We cannot see any of it. Your account holds your email and phone number, never your circle. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
2. Your account
Signing in takes an email address and a phone number. We email you a one-time code; there is no password. Your email and phone number are stored with our sign-in service, Supabase, and are used to prove you are you and to be reachable about your account, and for nothing else. No marketing lists, no selling, ever.
You can delete your account inside the app: Settings, Account, Delete Account. That removes the account from the sign-in service and erases everything in Cue on your device.
3. Contacts
Cue asks for permission to read your contacts only when you choose to import people. If you allow it, Cue reads names, phone numbers, birthdays where the contact card has one, and the small thumbnail photo, and it keeps only the contacts you select on that screen. Nothing from your address book is transmitted off the device. You can decline, import nobody, and add people by hand instead, and you can revoke access at any time in Settings, Privacy and Security, Contacts.
4. Photos
If you attach a photo to someone, Cue uses the iOS photo picker, which hands the app only the single image you chose. Cue never receives access to your photo library. The image is scaled down and saved with that person's record on your device.
5. Notifications
Reminders are local notifications scheduled by the app on your own phone. There is no push server involved, so no reminder, name or date is ever sent over the network to deliver it. You can turn reminders off inside Cue, or in iOS Settings.
6. AI drafting, the one thing that leaves your phone
Cue can write drafts in two ways. On device, it uses a library of lines that ships inside the app, and nothing goes over the network at all. With AI drafting, Cue sends a small request over an encrypted connection to our drafting service, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude to generate the lines and returns them.
Here is exactly what is in that request, and what is not:

The request carries no account, no login and no device identifier, so it is not linked to you. Our drafting service handles it in memory and writes nothing to a database. Anthropic does not use content submitted through its API to train its models, and holds requests only briefly for abuse monitoring before deleting them. We do not keep the drafts. They come back to your phone and live only there.
If you would rather nothing at all left your device, use Cue without AI drafting. The on device library covers every occasion Cue supports.
7. Sending a message
Cue never sends a text on your behalf and technically cannot. It hands a draft to the standard iOS message composer, and you send it yourself from your own number. The content and the recipient go from your phone through Apple and your carrier in the ordinary way. Cue does not see whether you sent it, and does not read your message history.
8. Purchases
Subscriptions are sold through Apple's In App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment, and we never receive your card number, billing address or Apple Account credentials. Apple tells the app whether a valid subscription exists so features can unlock, and gives us anonymous, aggregated sales reports. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
9. What we do not do
- No analytics or crash reporting SDKs of any kind
- No advertising, ad networks or advertising identifiers
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites
- No selling or sharing of personal information, ever, to anyone
- No profiles built about you
Under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, we do not sell or share personal information. What we hold is your email and phone number, and you can delete both yourself, in the app.
10. This website
sendoncue.com is a set of static pages served by GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies, loads no third party fonts, scripts or trackers, and has no analytics. GitHub keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and for the delivery of the pages, as described in GitHub's privacy statement. If you email us, we receive whatever you write and your email address, and we use it only to reply.
11. Service providers
We keep the list short on purpose:

12. Children
Cue is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects nothing to a server, there is nothing for us to delete, but if you believe a child has used the app and you have a concern, write to us and we will help.
13. Your choices
- Revoke Contacts access in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Contacts, Cue
- Turn reminders off in Cue's Settings tab, or in iOS Settings, Notifications
- Skip AI drafting and stay entirely on device
- Delete your account in Cue's Settings tab, which removes it from the sign-in service
- Erase everything with Clear All Data in Cue's Settings tab
- Delete the app, which removes all of its stored data from your iPhone
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability apply to personal data a company holds about you. We hold your email and phone number, which you can delete in the app; everything else lives on your own device under the controls above. You may still write to us with a request and we will respond.
14. Security
Data on your iPhone is protected by iOS app sandboxing and device encryption. Requests to the drafting service travel over TLS. Beyond your email and phone number, we store nothing, so there is no database of your people to breach.
15. Where things are processed
Cue is operated from the United States. If you use AI drafting from outside the United States, that one request is processed on servers in the United States.
16. Changes
If this policy changes we will update the effective date at the top, and for any material change we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Older versions are visible in the public repository this site is built from.
